Why film-faced plywood for formwork
The phenolic film surface resists water and swelling, leaves a clean concrete finish and lets boards be reused across many pours. That durability comes from plywood construction, in which thin veneers are glued with alternating grain directions so the board stays strong and stable in both directions.
Getting more reuses from plywood in Oman
- Seal cut edges with edge sealer or paint to stop water entering the core.
- Apply release agent before each pour and clean boards straight after stripping.
- Stack flat on bearers and cover plywood in storage so it does not warp in the heat.
- Strip carefully and avoid hammering on the film face.

Work from the formwork area. Measure the contact surface of slabs, beams, columns and walls, divide by the area of one 1220 x 2440mm panel, and add allowance for cuts and reuse planning. Because boards are reused across pours, the number of panels on site is usually a fraction of the total contact area, set by your pour sequence and stripping times.
